In the various disciplines and arts of Italian combat, we can certainly find place the traditional combat art of Sicilian Cane.
Used almost everywhere on th island, but only in some villages, th ecane had its highest expression, one of these villages i Calatabiano in the province of Catania, where there is a proud school that dates back to 1800 with different combat techiniques.

We cannot also say thet it ha been rediscovered in Calatabiano as it has always been practiced over the centuries. It is an art that has been handed down from generation to generation to a small circle of people for their abilities and merits.
The very fact that there is a code in combat, makes us think that the Sicilian cane has been studies by different cultural and social fields.
Although the form is the same, there are many differeces in tecnique and style from one village to another.
